Claremont, Calif. (December 12, 2011) — The Sagehen Women’s Basketball team broke through for its first win of the season in convincing fashion by knocking off Arizona Christian 89-73 on Friday at Voelkel Gymnasium. Emi Hashizume ’14 led the Sagehens with 24 points on the night, the fourth time in eight games that she has led the team in scoring. She also had a team-high of 20 points in a narrow 64-59 loss to La Sierra on Monday, giving her an average of 22.0 points on the week, raising her average to a team-best 14.8 points per game on the year.
Ruthie Shapiro ’15 also contributed to the win over Arizona Christian with six points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Sagehens will close out the fall semester with a home game against Piedmont on Saturday at 4 p.m. before taking a two-week break for the holidays. The Men’s Basketball team, meanwhile, plays its final game of the semester on Friday against American Sports University at 7:30 p.m.
一道本不卡免费高清Vincent Giannotti ’12 had a strong weekend for the Pitzer-Pomona Men’s Swimming team as he finished fifth overall (first among Division III competitors) in the 1650-yard freestyle at the Finis Collegiate Invitational with a time of 17:17.61. He was also part of a 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished second out of eight overall behind only NAIA’s Cal Baptist with a time of 3:15.75.
