The cost of attendance (COA), also known as the student’s budget, is used to determine aid eligibility. The COA includes direct charges for tuition and fees, a room and board budget for a double with the 16-meal plan, as well as indirect charges for books, supplies, and personal expenses. Below is the 2019-2020 cost of attendance.

The Student Accounts Office publishes a comprehensive list of all costs and charges, including different room and meal-plan costs, on the Tuition & Fees section of their website.

Room & Board
The budget for room and board is based on a double with the 16-meal Plan. The financial aid budget does not take into consideration the cost of single rooms when determining a student’s budget or aid eligibility. However, students who need additional assistance can inquire about federal loans so assist with these costs.

Academic course fees and course fee scholarships are assessed after Census, the 10th day of the semester, when enrollment is “locked”. Please note, financial aid does not cover physical education fees.
Students who need financial assistance to purchase a computer may have their student budget increased. Laptops can only be funded with federal loans if the student has remaining loan eligibility; most students will be able to borrow an Unsubsidized Loan. All loan funds are paid to the student’s account first. If there is a remaining credit after the loan is paid, the student can request a refund and use those funds for the purchase of a computer. For additional information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
All students at Pitzer are required to have health insurance. Students are automatically enrolled for Pitzer’s health insurance, but may waive out if they can provide proof of equal coverage.

The health insurance plan for the 2019-2020 year is $2,551. For more information regarding the health insurance, visit: Student Health Insurance Plan.
The Office of Financial Aid does not cover other miscellaneous charges that may appear on the student’s account, such as but not limited to: vehicle registration fees, payment plan fees, course overload fees, health services fees, fines or citations.
